How meaning is created in Strayed Above The final media product is in line with client brief due to the visual and special effects. The visual effects applied which includes creating a mask path around screens and windows and compositing footage to fit within a certain scale. The visual effects show the damage other infrastructure to the spaceship as the screens in the spaceship go dark or down meaning the signal has been lost or damage as before it was working fine before the explosion. The special effects makeup used within the teaser scene as well show how the explosion of the ship has affected crew members such as Kyle Black and in which shows how life is on board the spaceship as communication systems have stopped working and the crew have taken damage. The visual effects also create a sense of realism towards the final product as the visual effects display different space scenes and mask over windows to give the illusion that the characters are in space as we see...

Visual effects There are many ways to enhance a film with costumes, performance and acting but visual effects can add a whole world or models in different ways. One of the famous ways to do visual effects is the use of green and blue screens. They are normally use as backdrops and can be edited or “Chroma keyed” in editing to be a different background or location. The difference between a blue and green screen is the colour and how they are used. A blue screen is used more for darker and gloomier backgrounds as it requires less colour spill and less background noise. A green screen is used for daytime shoots and it is a colour far away from a human skin tone. A green and blue screen can be also used to coat over a person who is helping with another visual or special effect so many actors or crew will wear green suits so they can be edited out of the film if they are not needed and can cause the effect to be ruined. Traditionally Matte painting was artist painting on glass a...

Marketing and distribution of Stayed above. The marketing of Stayed above will include the opening sequence of the show as mentioned in the brief this will be displayed on adverts on the BBC 3 platform as trailers or short snippets or scene from the show saying Strayed Above coming soon. This will also be on other social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube this will entice the audience and will make them go onto the BBC 3 platform and search and watch the show. The opening sequence will be a bit different towards the show actual one as in the end it will feature the log-line and will make the audience question and watch the show to find out what our characters do when they are strayed above. The star appeal of the show is also a big factor when marketing the show.   The opening sequence will also feature actors and actresses names and when people will see the sequence they might find their favourite actor/actress in the show and will want to watch i...

Production plan for strayed above The first picture of the sketched panels used to show the visual effects within the scene with our scale model. 2nd panel of the sketches  The sketch panels were made to incorporate the visual effects that were going to be used in front of our special effects in this case was our scale model in planned format. The sketch panels helped us figure out how we want the ship to be placed and the what footage we will need for the background for our spaceship. The images can be moved around and placed so they are placed in set format so they can be changed to fit better later on if needed.   The sketch panels help save production time as we see a visualisation of what we want to shoot and can place our scale model in the way we have drawn it to quickly get the shots that we need. The time that was saved can be spent on valuable shots or planning others shots as well. The visual effects as well that intend for use are using the soft...

Justify the production process of Strayed Above When in production and post-production and the final product we made sure to follow our pre-production documents and be in line with our filming this is done to make sure the original plans were followed and is in line with the client brief. Here is a shot of Captain Crain staring outside a window compared with the storyboard version of the shot. The shot is included with the final product to show how life is outside the spaceship for our characters. If enhancements were made to the final product headroom will be given more space to see the entire window and or characters movement as the shot does feel close and uncomfortable as limited space is given. A storyboard panel of the scene where Captain Crain stares out his window in the Spaceship The same shot replicated within the final product. A rushed footage of the scene which was shot in front of a green screen. A panel from our ...
