Unit 17-D2

Justify the production process of Strayed Above

When in production and post-production and the final product we made sure to follow our pre-production documents and be in line with our filming this is done to make sure the original plans were followed and is in line with the client brief.

Here is a shot of Captain Crain staring outside a window compared with the storyboard version of the shot. The shot is included with the final product to show how life is outside the spaceship for our characters. If enhancements were made to the final product headroom will be given more space to see the entire window and or characters movement as the shot does feel close and uncomfortable as limited space is given.

A storyboard panel of the scene where Captain Crain stares out his window in the Spaceship
The same shot replicated within the final product.

A rushed footage of the scene which was shot in front of a green screen.

A panel from our Storyboard which shows the scene of where Kyle Black finds Captain Crain

The video version of where Kyle Black finds Captain Crain.

This shot is when Kyle Black talks to captain Crain about what has just happened this scene is important to the product as it tells the audience why the explosion has occurred and what it has done to the crew members on board the space ship. The differences in this shot compared to the storyboard is the masking of the window and the position  of the characters. Enhancements that could be done to the footage if done again would be positioning of the characters and the outside lighting as its continuity does not match up well with other shots also the light from the outside interferes with the masking making it look weaker compared to the others shown in the final product.

A storyboard panel which features the opening sequence scenes where we the lights of the spaceship
The same shot replicated when filming following the storyboard

The rushed footage of the opening sequence scene.

This is the shot from the opening sequence of product this was included to show the interior design of the ship and give the Sci-Fi feel as cables and pipes run along the celling and we get to rack them along with the music playing the background it is a fast and effective shot used to show more. The changes if done again would be when filming is to be more stable as the footage does shake making it look not that clean and sharp but it is effective either way as the rush of the footage could represent panic as we have just seen what has happened to our characters.

This is our mood board for the whole production. In the mood board the main colour theme was blue to show SCI-FI and space. The colour blue represents wisdom and loyalty themes that come up within the final production of the teaser scene. Blue is shown through the lighting as blue gels were used with the lighting rigs. The spacesuits are replicated with our dark blue workers suits along with different alterations such as the goggles. Many ideas within the storyboard were implemented in the product such as the space window scene and the control panel for the props within the spaceship.

(Insert sketched panels and talk about how they were implemented which; you have now yay)

The sketched panels are used in . the opening sequence seen in between 0:00 to 0:10 The are here to set where are characters are in the show and to show the space atmosphere as well as the ship. The scene is a fair copy of what was shown within the sketched panels. How ever within the final product includes transitions and the scenes have been moved to flow better than being just straight cuts. as well the smoke is seen at the back of the ship instead of a fireball as this is done in the middle of the teaser scene to show the impact the ship has taken .
