P4 UNIT 17 RESUBMISSION

The sketch panels were made to incorporate the visual effects that were going to be used in front of our special effects. In this case was our scale model in planned format. The sketch panels helped us figure out how we wanted the ship to be placed and the footage we will need for the background for our spaceship. The images can be moved around and placed so they are placed in set format so they can be changed to fit better later on if needed. 
The sketch panels help save production time as we see a visualisation of what we want to shoot and can place our scale model in the way we have drawn it to quickly get the shots that we need. The time that was saved can be spent on valuable shots or planning others shots as well.

The visual effects as well that intend for use are using the software after effects to mask over certain sections of out footage to make it look like Captain Crain is looking at different points in space on his monitor. This is done to give the effect that our characters are still in space and can see it from the outside. or on camera on the ship. The spaceship model was filmed in front of a green screen and within After effects the green screen was keyed and replaced and composited with a footage of space and the galaxy. The video of the spaceship will then be scaled and made to fit and make it look like the spaceship flying towards the audience or is flying towards the screen.

The text visual effects were also going to be place over a shot from these sketched panels through the use if the text in Final cut pro. The text would be composited over the shots during the opening credits of the final product. Different effects will be added towards the text to make it look less bland as well to add to the spectacle of the spaceship.

Creating a mask path around the spaceship will be done in the software After effects. The path created will go key out the green screen which will be in the background of footage we shot of the model that will be created and will be replaced with stock footage of space this will add the effect that the spaceship is flying through space by the use of mask path.

Special effects used will be the scar wax and our scale models which were made to be our spaceships. This will be the main location of where are characters live and where the action and story happens. Without this the SCI-FI element is lost as there is no spaceship to go with it.

How meaning is created in Strayed Above The final media product is in line with client brief due to the visual and special effects. The visual effects applied which include creating a mask path around screens , windows as well as compositing footage to fit within a certain scale. The visual effects show the damage of the  infrastructure to the spaceship as the screens in the spaceship go dark or down meaning the signal has been lost or damaged as before it was working fine before the explosion. The special effects makeup used within the teaser scene as well show how the explosion of the ship has affected crew members such as Kyle Black and in which shows how life is on board the spaceship as communication systems have stopped working and the crew have taken damage. Unit 3 -M2

Resolving Legal and Ethical issues When creating this product legal and ethical issues have to be considered for. Such as the music for the show we cannot take a music track which is not royalty free as this is illegal. This will cause complications for the product which might halt the time of production and also might not be able to even screen the show if copyrighted music is heard without the use of a license. The plot and the story of the show can’t be taken from another SCI-FI show as well as this will be just copying ideas and would be stealing another IP’s content for our gain so we should be able to research and create our own ideas for the show while including the brief which was given towards us. The ethical issues that may arise is the use of our makeup since one of our actors is Muslim the use of proper gelatine will go against his beliefs and wouldn’t be allowed so a substitute gelatine will have to be used when creating our special effects.
