Resolving Legal and Ethical issues

When creating this product legal and ethical issues have to be considered for. Such as the music for the show we cannot take a music track which is not royalty free as this is illegal. This will cause complications for the product which might halt the time of production and also might not be able to even screen the show if copyrighted music is heard without the use of a license. The plot and the story of the show can’t be taken from another SCI-FI show as well as this will be just copying ideas and would be stealing another IP’s content for our gain so we should be able to research and create our own ideas for the show while including the brief which was given towards us.

The ethical issues that may arise is the use of our makeup since one of our actors is Muslim the use of proper gelatine will go against his beliefs and wouldn’t be allowed so a substitute gelatine will have to be used when creating our special effects. an alternative to using gelatine can be suing scar wax as it does not contain gelatine and has the same properties as 3D gel and does not cause any ethical issues for the cast and crew. Scar wax as well takes less time to prepare and can easily be applied onto our actor.

When creating our product, we have to follow our risk assessment to avoid the risk of injury or damage to our crew and actors. If not, then they can get seriously hurt and halt our production time. Also by not sticking and taking care of our actors we can get in some legal troubles as we are not taking care of our crew while on set and that is our responsibility when carrying out the main task of filming. To avoid the risk of injury within the set cables and equipment should be looked after. Since the location of the scenes is fairly small and narrow cables should be taped down and not loose on the set as this can cause a trip hazard within the environment which can lead to a serious injury die to falling as well as damage to the lighting equipment and camera on the set. When moving equipment we have to make sure the overhead lights are turned back on when they were turned off when filming this can reduce the risk of collision on set as crew members can see where they are walking and as mentioned before can see the cables that can cause injury.

The copyright issues also include the footage that we use for our backgrounds as well since we will use stock footage of space and different galaxies we should make sure they are free to use and not taken without permission. The footage we will use will come from Pixabay and some footage from their will require paying or having a licensee if we take one of these videos without paying or an agreement from the user we can get a copyright strike which again can cause legal issues for our production and our show. So, to stop that from happening will have to search carefully for our stock footage and make sure it can be used for reuse and have permission from the owner of the footage if needed. Referencing  must be also done for the stock footage even though it is free to use. All credits should belong to the owner of certain  footage we use such as the stock footage as we can not claim we shot the footage ourselves. We can do this by providing the website link to where we got the footage in the credits or in the description on our final products description page.
