Unit 17- P7
Applying Visual effects.
Here is a side by side capture of the footage of Crain
looking at monitors with the use of visual effects and next to it is what it looked like before the effects were added.
This is footage of me creating and applying our visual to
our final product such as making and composition to the footage

(Applying visual effects to footage)
and below from 5:56 here is me applying text visual effects
over our final product
The footage was first imported then placed onto a queue then
when a new composition was created was placed into a square button box as
placing straight onto the layer won’t make
The video load or will create a new composition. When placed
in this box they will appear on the layers which is shown in the picture below.
The different layer mostly consisted of videos of space and galaxies that Crain
would see on his monitor and the main footage itself.

The pen tool used to create paths and new mask to put the space footage over the screens

The option to place the mask behind or in front of the footage to put behind you click Subtract to appear in the front you click Add.
The mask when first applied will go in front of the footage
so the mask had to be selected to subtract to place the mask behind the footage
as placing that underneath the layer won’t have an effect on the mask.

This is how the text would appear in the footage timeline and can be shorted or edited when clicked on.
The applying of text over the final product was done using
the text tool in final cut they have options to adds different effects towards
the text such as fades in or outs so this effect was applied to the text which
was place over the certain pieces of the final product. This was done 7 times
over different pieces of footage for each credit which needed to be included as
this is stated within the brief.
